Wine Bottle with Prayer Book
This is an early work that I did a few years ago. I was interested in the reflections of the bottle that give a glimpse beyond the seen still life.
Some have interpreted the open window and the prayer book as symbolizing a spiritual message. I like that... To be honest though, I just enjoyed the challenge of painting a reflective image and a worn out old prayer book.

I had done this one for the "Encounter New England" juried show at the Copley Society of Art.
I discovered that cooked lobsters are much prettier to paint then live ones.

Gentleman with Maid
This was a commission that I had recently done. Thanks to the help of several Vermeer paintings I was able to come up with this one. I used my brother-in-law David and his daughter Kayla to sit for me.
